Naval Science Instructor: Lorenzo Cox
First
Sergeant Lorenzo Cox was born in Columbus, Georgia in 1964. He
enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in August 1982 and attended
Recruit Training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD), Parris Island,
South Carolina. Upon graduation, he attended Aviation Supply School,
in Meridian, Mississippi. From 1983 to 1984, he was assigned to Marine
Aircraft Group 36, Headquarters and Maintenance Squadron, Okinawa,
Japan. Upon completion of this tour, he was transferred to the Marine
Corps Air Station (MCAS) Cherry Point, North Carolina and was assigned
to Station Operations and Engineering Squadron, where he served as the
Fiscal and Accounting Chief from 1984 to 1987.
Following this tour, Cox transferred to (MCAS) Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii, Station Operations and Maintenance Squadron, where he served as the Aviation Supply Accounting Chief. Concurrent to this tour, he served as an instructor at the Noncommissioned Officer’s School. Upon successfully completing the school, he was assigned as a Canvassing Recruiter and Noncommissioned Officer in Charge (on production) in Houston, Texas. During this tour, he was promoted to Staff Sergeant.
Following a successful tour on recruiting duty, Staff Sergeant Cox was transferred to Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 29, MCAS New River, Jacksonville, North Carolina, where he deployed with HMM-162 and HMM-365 on two different MEU floats to the 6th Fleet AOR. In 1988, GySgt. Cox was transferred MCAS Beaufort, South Carolina, where he served as the Station Supply Chief until he was promoted to rank of First Sergeant and transferred to MCRD Parris Island in July 2001.
First Sergeant Cox served as the 1stSgt for Range Company, Headquarters and Support Company and Field Training Company, Weapons and Field Training Bn. His final tour of duty was at Service Company, Headquarters and Service Battalion.
His personal decorations include: Meritorious Service Medal, Navy/Marine Corps Commendation Medal, the Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal with 2 gold stars, and the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal (2nd Award).
1st Sgt Cox joined Lassiter as an instructor on the 10th day of January 2006.
