Captain James Minta (RET) - Senior Naval Science Instructor (SNSI)

Captain Jim Minta was born in Chicago, Illinois and raised in New Port Richey, Florida.
He entered the University of Florida with a Navy ROTC scholarship and graduated with a
BA in History, earning his commission as an Ensign in the Navy in 1988.
CAPT Minta's ship assignments included USS Rentz (FFG-46) where he served as Auxiliary/Electrical and Ordnance Officer, USS Tarawa (LHA-1) as Combat Information Officer, USS Samuel Eliot Morison (FFG-13) serving as the Engineer Officer, USS Camden (AOE-2) in the capacity of Executive Officer and commanded USS Rodney M.Davis
FFG-60). His duty stations ashore include Defense Information System Agency, Europe, Propulsion Examining Board, Navy Staff, U.S. European Command and served as commanding officer of Navy Reserve Center Pensacola and Navy Operational Support Center Atlanta.
Upon retirement from the Navy in 2013, he worked for Workforce Opportunity Services, a non-profit helping Veterans and disadvantaged youth launch new careers through targeted study programs. In July 2016, CAPT Minta joined Cobb County School District as the Lassiter, Pope, Kell High School Navy Junior ROTC Senior Naval Science Instructor in Marietta, GA.
Captain Minta's personal awards include Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with two gold stars, Navy Commendation Medal with two gold stars, and the Navy Achievement Medal with two gold stars.
