Summary:
Orienteering is a land navigation competition through the woods, with just a compass and a map. Orienteering can be one of the more physically demanding events in which the unit competes.
Cadets are organized into 2-person teams and by using only a magnetic compass and topographical map must find checkpoints on an orienteering course as quickly and accurately as possible. The course's leg lengths vary from short (150 meters) to long (1000 meters).
Orienteering is an event that requires a combination of physical stamina and the ability to think quickly on your feet. Cadets also can't be afraid to get wet or dirty as you compete on some of the courses.
